Isn't that such a pretty shot? (Not mine, of course.)
So just today I was reading over at Small Notebook and Rachel linked to a post at Zen Habits from last summer on Life Laundry Day. I could use one of those. Right now, more precisely, I could use a Life Laundry Week. I promise, sweet friends, this is the last time I'll mention how overwhelmed and busy I am. Taking over at Simple Kids has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and the insane growth and enthusiastic response has been nothing short of flabbergasting. There is just still so much I need to do, so much I want to do . . . In the meantime, piles of stuff fester, pictures languish in the camera, emails are hit-and-miss (at best), content here gets pushed back, list of things unattended to burgeons.
In the interest of getting my ducks in a row (or - inspired by the picture above - getting my sheets on the line), I've been asking some lovely ladies to step in with some guest posts that I think will very much speak to the interests of the SortaCrunchy audience. I'm excited to share with you what they are writing, and I wanted to open up the chance to have a couple more speak to some topics that are beyond my range of experience.
I've mentioned before that we will most likely do public school; if blessed with a son, we will most likely choose to circumcise; we vaccinate selectively and on an alternative schedule; and that my daughters are Cesarean births. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might be interested in writing up a guest post on one of the following topics:
* positive advocacy of homeschool
* positive advocacy of choosing not to vaccinate
* positive advocacy of homebirth (or intervention-free hospital/birth center birthing)
* positive advocacy of circumcision OR positive advocacy of male intactness (non-circumcising)
Now, you'll note the key word in each topic - positive. If you feel you can share some information with this audience to advocate your family's choices on one of the subjects without negating or devaluing the viewpoints of those on the other side of the coin, I would love to share your thoughts in this forum. (I'm asking for both sides of the circumcision question because I, myself, would like to be educated further on this topic.) I'm also aware of the sensitive nature of these topics and have avoided them for fear of the whole blog exploding, but you all have proved to be so kind, gracious, loving, and well-mannered in all of our more controversial discussions of late that I feel I can trust each of you with these topics.
So, any takers? Feel free to comment here or email me at sortacrunchy at gmail dot com. I would need to have your post ready to go sometime in the month of June.
To all of you - thank you so much, once again, for being so gracious and patient with me as I try on this "work at home mom" thing and try to figure out what fits and what doesn't.
lovely photo by Jay Erickson. did you know there is a whole flickr group of clothes_line pictures? Enjoy!
