What a beautiful shot of some sort of exotic bird, completely at home in his native wetland environment.
Oh, wait a minute. That's not a wetland.
It's our backyard.
It's raining here today. Again. Our backyard is a perfect metaphor for how I'm feeling. A bit swamped.
I had a glorious time at the National Mom's Night Out event in Tulsa last Thursday. Finally got to meet Elizabeth face-to-face, and I'll tell you what, we could have talked for hours. We also got to meet Emily who is just as darling and sweet and friendly as can be. edit - I'm telling you, my brain is drenched. I totally forgot I also got to see a friend from high school, Liz of Lizzy Dear's Life and the amazingly successful Lizzy Dear's Life Reviews! I haven't seen Liz in years and it was a blessing to see a familiar face in the midst of so many women I didn't know.
Such a great time and worth every minute of the drive from my part of the state to that part of the state. (I haven't been in Tulsa since I was in college, and I had forgotten what how lovely the eastern part of Oklahoma is!) I hope to have pictures to share later this week.
We had a beautiful Mother's Day weekend at my parents' house. We came home with a truck bed full of furniture (some thrifted and some free!) and a carload full of laundry to be done. Needless to say, there will be no As He Leads Us post today. I'm about sixty emails behind in my personal inbox, and there's plenty waiting on my attention at Simple Kids as well.
Is it raining where you are? Anyone else swamped (figuratively or literally)? Here's to the gentle rhythm of rainfall and the unexpected delight of exotic birds landing in your mud puddles today.
