This stuff is headed for the coast.
Tereson Dupuy, founder of Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers, has begun an initiative called Cloth for the Coast. She and her volunteers are collecting cloth diapers, inserts, baby blankets, burp cloths, and towels to donate to the wildlife rescue and clean-up efforts happening on the Louisiana coast. It is important that the items being used in the clean-up work be free of snaps and velcro; however, Tereson and other volunteers are accepting donations of all kinds of cloth diapers to donate to families who have been financially devastated by the effects of the oil spill and for whom cloth diapering might be one way to adjust to this life change.
I have felt so painfully helpless watching coverage of the oil spill. I am so thankful for the initiative Tereson is taking in leading this donation drive. That pile of inserts and too-old-to-be-sold cloth diapers have been sitting in storage for years. (Those white Fuzzi Bunz at the top of the stack are the first pocket diapers I ever bought - almost five years ago! *sniff sniff*) What a blessing to send them on to be repurposed in the Gulf.
